1st Student Industrial Design Competition on Ergonomics and Aesthetics
Enhancing well-being through industrial design.
The Department of Industrial Design at Alanya University, Alanya, Antalya, Türkiye, invites students and recent graduates worldwide to submit original objects, products and tools that bring ergonomics and aesthetics together. This international, single-stage competition uses online submission and anonymous jury evaluation to recognize thoughtful design for comfort, usability and well-being.
Who can participate? Current undergraduate and postgraduate students, and graduates of the previous two years, in industrial design, architecture, urban design or urbanism, and interior design. Enter individually or in a team of up to four eligible participants. Academic instructors may serve as supervisors or advisors, credited separately.
Design brief. Develop a specific object or tool for human or non-human users, at any site or scale. Concepts, unbuilt designs, prototypes and built objects are welcome; a physical prototype is optional. Explain the intended users, use scenario, dimensions, materials and construction, and how form, colour and texture support ergonomic performance and aesthetic quality.
Required submission. Upload two files: (1) the completed official Word submission form (.docx), including an English project description of no more than 200 words; and (2) one A3 landscape poster (420 × 297 mm) as a single-page PDF, maximum 15 MB. Poster text may be English or Turkish. Use 300 dpi images and choose one of the six official layouts, preserving its header, footer and grid. Keep all images within their section borders with a minimum 4 mm inset; omit the sample guide page.
Names and anonymous review. Place all participant names and advisor credits only in the designated identity fields. The organizer removes identifying information from jury copies. Submit original work, credit external sources, obtain necessary permissions and disclose AI assistance; do not present generated visuals as real prototypes or testing evidence.
Entry and registration. Participation is free; no payment receipt is required. Each project requires a separate registration and complete submission; one registration covers its entire team. Email submissions are not accepted.
Recognition and publication. First, second and third places receive winner certificates. Twenty nominated projects will be selected for exhibition and booklet inclusion; fifty well-structured projects will be selected for the competition booklet, published under Alanya University publications. Selection is competitive and is not guaranteed by entry.
